All mothers want to make sure their pregnancy goes well and that their unborn child is safe. Therefore, this young woman did not feel any difference about her fetus after receiving certain news at her prenatal doctor’s meetings.
After learning that her fetus had Down syndrome, the physicians naturally suggested ending the pregnancy. Rather than doing that, she carried the baby to term and wrote to the doctor years later about the experience of having a kid with Down syndrome.

Moms always wish for the best for their kids. The mother of Emersyn, a young child with Down syndrome, is Courtney Williams Baker. Doctors informed her that her child had Down syndrome when she went in for her routine prenatal visits. Despite being recommended to end the pregnancy, she and her husband chose not to do so.
When Emersyn was two years old in 2016, she wrote a letter to her doctor. She began the letter by discussing a friend of hers who had a pregnancy identical to the couple’s. “A friend recently told me of how her prenatal specialist would say, ‘He’s perfect,’ whenever he saw her child during her sonograms,” Courtney wrote. She went to see the same doctor when her son was born with Down syndrome. “I told you,” he continued, glancing at her young son. He is flawless.I was devastated by her narrative. Even while I was incredibly appreciative of my friend’s experience, it made me sad since I should have had it.
She continued by saying that it was painful for her and that she wishes she had received the same kind of care as her friend when she was pregnant with Down syndrome.

“I wish you had been that physician.” I was scared, nervous, and in total despair when I came to you, and it was the most trying period of my life. I sorely wanted you to tell me the truth about my baby, which I did not yet know. However, you recommended that we abort our child rather than provide assistance and encouragement. You questioned us again if we realized how poor our quality of life would be if we had a child with Down syndrome after I gave you her name. You recommended that we reevaluate our choice to carry the pregnancy to term.
She continued by describing how, from that point on, she would dread going to the doctor. “We dreaded our appointments from that first visit,” she stated. Additionally, “You never told me the truth, which made the most trying time in my life almost intolerable.” My child was flawless.

She described how Emersyn had given her life a new purpose. She stated, “You see, Emersyn has touched thousands of people’s hearts in addition to improving our quality of life. She has given us greater grins, more laughter, and sweeter kisses than we have ever experienced, as well as a purpose and delight that words cannot describe. She has made us more aware of genuine beauty and unadulterated love.
