Stuffed Cabbages Rolls Recipe

A comforting and flavorful dish, perfect for a family dinner. These stuffed cabbage rolls are filled with a savory mixture of ground meat and rice, then simmered in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients:

For the Cabbage:

Ingredient Quantity
Large head of cabbage 1

For the Filling:

Ingredient Quantity
Ground beef 1 lb
Ground pork (optional) 1/2 lb
Cooked rice 1 cup
Onion, finely diced 1 small
Garlic, minced 2 cloves
Egg 1
Salt 1 tsp
Pepper 1/2 tsp
Paprika 1 tsp

For the Sauce:

Ingredient Quantity
Tomato sauce 2 cups
Beef broth 1 cup
Olive oil 2 tbsp

Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Cabbage:

        • Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
      • Remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the whole head in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
      • Gently peel the leaves and set aside.
  1. Make the Filling:

      • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika.
      • Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
        • Assemble the Rolls:

            • Place a spoonful of the filling onto the center of each cabbage leaf.
            • Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling and roll tightly, securing the ends.
        • Prepare the Sauce:

            • In a large skillet or pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
          • Add the tomato sauce and beef broth, stirring to combine.
          • Bring the sauce to a simmer.
       

       

      • Cook the Rolls:

          • Place the cabbage rolls, seam-side down, into the simmering sauce.
          • Cover the pot and simmer over low heat for 45-60 minutes, or until the rolls are cooked through and tender.
      • Serve:

        • Serve the stuffed cabbage rolls warm, with extra sauce spooned over the top.
