šŸ’How to Store

Keep the bread in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap. It will stay fresh for up to 3 days at room temperature. I like to use a resealable plastic bag and squeeze out as much air as possible before sealing it.

Amish Cinnamon Bread also freezes beautifully! Wrap individual slices or the whole loaf in plastic wrap and aluminum foil, or use a resealable freezer-safe plastic bag to avoid freezer burn. It can be stored in the freezer for up to three months. When ready to enjoy, thaw it out at room temperature.

āTips

Be sure to check out theĀ step by step instructions

  • Donā€™t overmix the batter. Mixing too much can cause the bread to become tough, so be sure to mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • If youĀ donā€™t have buttermilk, you can make your own by combining 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice. Let it sit for a few minutes before using it.
  • Test the bread for doneness with a toothpick or a thin knife inserted in the center. If it comes out clean or with just a few crumbs clinging to it, the bread is ready to come out of the oven.
  • This is an easy recipe to double if you want two loaves of bread.

šŸ“FAQ

Is Amish cinnamon bread the same thing as Amish friendship bread?

No. Amish cinnamon bread is a sweet, quick bread recipe you make and bake immediately and is a dessert. Amish friendship bread uses a sourdough starter you have to feed and is less sweet. Both feature cinnamon, but the two types of bread are prepared differently.

Absolutely! If you soften the butter to room temperature, mixing the batter by hand with a wooden spoon or a spatula will work fine. It might take a little more elbow grease, but the bread will still turn out delicious.

Can I add any other mix-ins to the batter?

Of course! Feel free to get creative with your Amish Cinnamon Bread. Some popular mix-ins include raisins, nuts, or even chocolate chips. Just donā€™t go overboard, and only add about 1/2 cup per loaf.
