Sally Jessy Raphael, best known for hosting The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, later titled Sally, from October 1983 until 2022, says Instagram refuses to very fer her account despite the number of evidence she handed in.

Further, she explained that there is already a verified account under the name ‘realsallyjr’ which doesn’t belong to her. In the fight for her ‘identity,’ she asked from her fans to help her get the social media site fix the mistake and give her the blue check.

“So, @Instagram doesn’t seem to want to give me my blue check – no matter what proof I send them!  AND there’s a fake account called “realsallyjr” and that’s NOT ME!” she posted on the social media. “Help me let instagram know, so we can fix this!” she added.

Sally’s show was a pioneer in audience participation and set the stage for future female hosts like Oprah, who debuted her show three years after.

Over the course of the 20 seasons she hosted, Sally welcomed a number of celebrities, politicians, and influential people, but until this very day, Audrey Hepburn remains her most favorite person to host.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Sally said of Hepburn, “I was so awestruck, I could hardly ask a question. Everything she did, I admired. Everything she had done in her life I found to be exemplary.”

Raphael’s signature look featured distinctive red glasses, which she started wearing after needing a new prescription early in her career.

With the only available color being red, she initially faced resistance from her producers but made the red glasses her trademark and has since accumulated over 200 pairs.

Since starting her unverified account in April, she has only attracted around 600 followers.

Sally has been posting images depicting memorable moments from her personal life and her rich career as a talk-show host. Recently, she posted a throwback photo of herself and late fitness guru Richard Simmons, paying her tributes to him.

Sally, who has always worn red reading glasses, eventually dyed her hair to match her bold fashion statement and continues to showcase her vibrant look.

Her fans were quick to support her in her intention to get the blue check on Instagram, with one of them writing, “@instagram The Icon, the Legend of daytime TV, Ms. Sally Jessy Raphael needs her Blue Check Mark  Hello!!!!!”

Another wrote, “That’s pretty crazy that someone as famous as you are is having trouble with being recognized. I’m trying to understand what the issue is though  Is it because you have a low amount of followers on this platform? Keep, sharing the link to your IG on Facebook and hopefully Meta catches on!  Loved watching you growing up & Still do.”
