Horrific: Owners Blind Dog To Avoid Medical Bills

When you have a dog as part of your family, you will do whatever it takes to ensure they are happy, healthy, and well cared for. You give them the best food you possibly can, a nice place to sleep, and plenty of TLC.

Although that is how most of us approach pet ownership, it certainly is not how everyone looks at it. For example, we have something that occurred in Rancho Santa Fe, California, recently. It is sure to make your blood boil.

A three-year-old dog named Louis was brought into the Helen Woodward Animal Center. He is a Labrador/shepherd mix, and his former owners decided they didn’t want to have him around anymore.

Lewis had an eye infection when he was living with his former owners. According to a statement by Helen Woodward, the dog’s owners had to use eyes removed rather than paying for the treatment of the infection. When the dog wasn’t able to quickly get accustomed to life without his site, they dropped him off at a shelter.

It wasn’t long after the operation that Lewis found himself in a pound in Calexico. His former owners just couldn’t bring themselves to show love to a blind pet. Fortunately, one of the rescue partners took Lewis in and cared for him.

Not only was Lewis struggling with a lack of eyesight, but he was also nervous about strange places. He also missed being around people, and somebody found out that he had even been struck by an automobile.

PEOPLE reported that the director of the animal Center adoptions, Hella Tyler said: “It is incredibly important that people who consider getting a pet know the obligations they take on with these animals. When people get their pets for free off of Craigslist, they don’t seem to realize that pets come with responsibilities and a monthly expense for their caretaking, including medical care. In turn, these pets will provide their owners with unparalleled love. They pay it back tenfold. It’s just devastating to see an animal treated the way Louis was treated.”

Fortunately, Lewis found his way to a foster home from the shelter very quickly. He is quickly learning how to adjust to life without his eyes because the foster family is very loving.

Helen Woodward is still looking for a forever family to care for Lewis and all he has to give. It would be best if he lived in a one-story home, and if you work from home, you could give them all of the attention he needed.

According to Tyler, Lewis is an extraordinary dog. He may not have been cared for by his former family, but he still loves people.
